National Stadium

Singapore vs Uzbekistan

As I have been saying in class. I brought Marcus and my dearest wife, who was very understanding, to the national stadium to watch our 'fantastic and committed' lions take on Uzbekistan...Can you erm even pronounce it??

Ok, the match was like crap and I left at half time but what the heck, since I was already there, I might as well make the best of it right? Anyway, when I reached the stadium, the atmosphere was brilliant! Many people really heeded calls from various media sources like newspapers and radio to go down in red and support our lions...watch them and cheer them on as they make history by qualifying for the 2010 WORLD CUP!!

Well, the only history our 'dear' lions made was simply to let in more goals than a sec sch team playing professionals. I know they tried but come on, when you make silly mistakes like those they made, I think you deserve no less than a dressing down...not so much by the coach...but by us the fans...cuz we paid really good money to watch them and the least they could do was to put up a fight. They did, unitl it was 2-2 and I was like losing my voice screaming and urging them on..but all the Uz players needed were for our wonderful defenders to make mistakes after mistakes. It really did seem as if our defenders were playing for them or maybe the singapore defenders just came out to make numbers...they were like some puppets in training match!

Well, Marcus was really restless by half time and so we left. Although I told my wife I would drop them off and go back, I asked myself, "What can I wish for? Singapore is down 3-5...do I expect them to score 3 and the opponents not even score a single goal in the 2nd half?" I figured the ans was no and decided to watch the match at home and be with my family. For your info, by the time the half time whistle was blown, i was like rooting for Uzbekistan to score more against us...

I feel soccer players have a duty as entertainers, to entertain us by playingwell...playing good attactive football. I read somewhere that players like John Terry and his bunch of England flops went partying and boozing the night they got knocked out of the Euro qualifiers by Russia or something like that. If that was true, I think its a disgrace and an utter disrespect for people who work their butts off trying to earn money to buy tickets to cheer on the national team at the match, only to be let down by horrible and half hearted, non committed performance on the field.

Can you imagine?? These people are role models!
Which is why I support Arsenal..They play good, attractive and entertaining football...although I have to admit being very tired of not seeing then lift trophies...With Scolari now at Chelsea, I really don't see them lifting trophies so easily this coming season. I think Scolari is a brilliant, firm and one that can really gain the respect of his players. But at least most of Arsenal players don't go around drinking themselves silly cuz Arsene is really strict on their diet from what i read and he's pretty particular about discipline..

Here are some pics of the trip! may bring him for future matches when he can appreciate them more..
